Microsoft recommends using the Download Manager to download large files. With the Download Manager, you can easily pause, resume, and stop the download process.
Using the Download Manager option
When choosing this option, two pop-up windows will come up. The first window will be an “About the Download Manager” page and the second window will be the Download Manager. When the second pop up appears press Run.
The download manager requires Java (http://java.com/en/) to run, if you do not have the latest version, it may ask you to update.
When the download manager loads up, it will ask you where you want to save the file. Choose somewhere that is easy to remember or easy to find, such as your ‘Downloads’ folder or your desktop. The Download Manager will then commence downloading the file and you can view the status of your download here.
Using the Web Browser download option
If you have difficulty with the above option, you may opt to use the Web Browser method, after clicking Download on the VLSC, a window will pop up.
Choose Save File (do not choose Open or Open with). Here you can choose where you want to save the file; once again choose somewhere that is easy to find such as your ‘Downloads’ folder or desktop.
